Week 2: Understanding Comics

Understanding comics has a variety of points that make you look at comics in a different way. There were many topics that made me extremely involved in the comic. The one that stood out to me the most was the way our mind pictures ourselves. This is something that we all do, and I have come to realize that I don't picture myself in a detailed way, yet I never read about it anywhere before. The fact that cartoons are something that we connect ourselves with more is amazing, because we mentally fill in the gaps that aren't there. This also relates to how people enjoy books more than movies sometimes. You can fill in all of the gaps of the physical characters with the concepts in your mind. Another thing that I love is how this comic really picks at your brain and points out things that you do on a daily basis, that you don't realize you do. For instance, when the author talks about how when we drive we become the car, its something that many people do yet never think about it twice. Humans find meaning and similarities in everything around us, even cars, and comics help us do this in a creative way.
